PerformancePoint CTP Prerequisites

Just been reading through the Prerequisites for PerfomancePoint CTP and noted a couple of interesting aspects.

It can be split up into no less than 5 different server components (or all lumped onto one).

It has a prerequisite of SQL Server 2005 SP2 ENTERPRISE EDITION. – Ouch that could sting the overall pricing structure is that is carried on into the final range.

There is no version for Analysis Services specified.

It is happy to use Windows Sharepoint Services V2 I was expecting it to need the Office Sharepoint Server 2007 (The paid for version).

I think I need to set a bit more time aside as the install guide is 36 pages long. Gulp!

    EDIT

I have now found that it ships with a “Minimal Verification Sample Application” that you install on a client machine and use to verify that all the different parts are configured correctly.

  1. I agree, Charlie, the install guide is lenghty… Microsoft has IMHO done a really good job, though – the only issues I’ve had were related to steps I had skipped. A full install under an existing VM took well under a couple hours, and that was late at night;-)
