Mark has a rant from Convergence about the lack of a clear coherent roadmap for the Dynamics range.
He points out that each year the message seems to be changing and the strategy feels confused. I agree.
He also makes the point that AX gets all the Microsoft Love but that there are too many GP people to ignore. I think the reason for that is clear – Margin. The double edged sword with GP is that it is becoming so cheap that there are very few barriers to entering the market and it is easy to shift volume. However, it is also very difficult to establish a unique selling point against other GP resellers and there is very little margin left in the product.
With the smartened up modules in GP10, the Business Ready Licencing and the Dynamics Office and Sharepoint Licence I think that the resellers future in GP is to develop IP within clearly focused verticals simple out of the box GP reselling is going to be a hard business model to support.
